Fixing a broken custom fly fishing rod?
Question by wakemaker9: Fixing a broken custom fly fishing rod?
My father’s custom fly rod broke. Now, after the small shop that made the rod closed, there is no warranty. Is there any place I can send it to be fixed, because it was a beautiful rod. It can take as long as it needs to, he has many more, but that’s his favorite.

There is no fixing a broken rod, whether its one of the sections or a tip of a fly rod, spinning rod, or casting rod. If the rod really means that much to your father, the best thing to do is replace it with an expensive top-of-the-line rod and “retire” the broken one.
That depends on what kind of rod blank was used, because some have lifetime warranties. So if it is a company that has a great warranty, some will replace a section(usually a small fee applies), but the rod guides they do not replace, so it is recommended to find a place that can take the rod guides from broken section(if you have them all) or match up new guides and put them on for a price.
If you know what company made the blank by having paper work for blank warranty, on the warranty paper work they usually have a contact number or an email address which you can contact them with your questions about what to do, most will tell you to send the section and send a small fee depending on their warranty terms.
Find someone who makes custom rods and let them try
